You can search for areas of interest, things to do, or notable locations in Google Maps. Find places like nearby museums, new restaurants, and popular bars and clubs. You can also find ratings and descriptions of these places in Maps.
Important:
- Google Maps contains content from different sources. Your Maps results may include information from our partners, our users, or the public web. Google may remove content if we learn that it violates our content policies or if it violates applicable laws.
- Local search results in Maps are based primarily on relevance, distance, and prominence.These factors are combined to help find the best match for your search. For example, Google algorithms might decide that a business that's farther away from you is more likely to have what you're looking for than a business that's closer. Therefore, it will rank higher in local results.
- Results in Google Maps are not influenced by payment from other companies. Paid content in Google Maps is labeled.
Find places in a specific area
To find places near an area you’ve searched:
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- Search for a place or address.
- Click Nearby
. - Select or enterthe kind of place you want to find, like
hotelorairport.- Results appear as red mini-pins and red dots. Mini-pins show the top results. The square pinsare ads. Learn more about what the mini-pins mean.
- To go back to your original search result after a pin is selected, click Cancel search nearby.

- You can use the term "near" in your search. For example, to find coffee spots close to the park, search
coffee near Central Park. - At the top of the screen, use the category buttons for search suggestions.
- To offer the best options, category buttons change based on your mode of transportation.. For example, driving presents you with options like "Gas," "EV charging," and "Hotels."
Flag a place for review
You can flag a business or place for impersonation, spam, or inappropriate content.
Tip: For legal issues, such as copyright or trademark disputes, submit a report.
To trigger a review of a place:
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- Select the place you want to flag.
- Click Suggest an edit Remove this place.
- Select the reason the place should be removed.
- Click Submit.

Important: This feature is available only at certain locations.
You can search for nearby businesses and places, like popular bars, gas stations, and ATMs. You can also find information like hours of operation, business phone numbers, and ratings.
To search categories near you:
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- Next to the search bar, tap a suggestion, likeRestaurants, Coffee, or Hotels.
